My other novel . . .
Today is Unification Day in Berlin. Tim and I went downtown to the "Festmeile" (Party Mile) which turned out to be the "Fressmeile" (Pig-out Mile)--hundreds of thousands of people wandered down Strasse des 17. Juni, stopping for a snack and a beer. Wurst, chinese noodles, waffles, ice cream--plenty of artery-clogging choices for the discriminating tastes. Tim and I split a grilled pork chop in a bun. Yum. We soon got tired of the crowds and looking at food and beer, so decided to quit the "party" and get a latte. We marveled at how different our lives are here and in "our other book" back in the U.S. of A., but how blessed we are with both.
We sat sipping lattes, looking out over the new Holocaust memorial. Hundreds of granite stones symbolize the bleakness of German history--graves to unknown countless Jews, who died being blamed for all of Germany's economic woes.
We then walked toward Potsdamer Platz--the provinces had opened up their new buildings to the public, and we enjoyed touring several of them. This picture of the Holocaust memorial is taken from the top of one of those buildings. In the background, you can see the progress being made on the new U.S. Embassy and even farther in the background is the German Reichstag (Parliament Building).

great photos, how fun to see what you're doing and where you're at. love the painting.
It's great being able to "picture" where you are in the pictures. I'm so thankful that we have been able to visit with you all there in Berlin, and to get even a little taste of the challenges, as well as blessings, of your life and ministry there.
